MANILA -- Amid the controversy surrounding the recent Star Awards for Movies, veteran actor Gabby Concepcion said her daughter KC Concepcion is deserving of her best actress award.
KC, Concepcion's daughter with actress Sharon Cuneta, won her first best actress trophy for her performance in in the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Boy Golden: Shoot To Kill."
"The mere fact that you're nominated means a lot for an actor. They decided that they are going to give it to her. I think everbody was excellent. I'm just happy that I'm her daddy, she's my daughter and she deserves it," the actor said.
Because KC is in New York during the awards night, Concepcion said he congratulated her through text.
"I texted her many times. She's in New York she's in school. Keep it up. I think that's what she always wanted to do, to get recognized on her own not just because her parents are in the industry also," he added.
Last week, Vice Ganda spoke up amid reports that he supposedly paid for his Best Actor trophy from the Star Awards, as alleged in a Facebook post by entertainment reporter Jobert Sucaldito, who admitted lobbying for Concepcion's co-star ER Ejercito for best actor.
Speaking on "It's Showtime," Vice Ganda said his conscience is clear as he thanked the PMPC for recognizing his performance in the hit movie "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy."
The PMPC also issued a statement, denying that the Star Awards for Movies was rigged.
