Jake feels vindicated with acting award
MANILA, Philippines –- Actor Jake Cuenca said he feels vindicated when he was named the Movie Supporting Actor of the Year by the PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cuenca said it is really a dream come true for him that his acting skills finally got recognized after nine years in show business.
“This is what every actor really works hard for. I never acted for an award but then gusto mo ma-recognize for your hard work,” he said.
Cuenca admitted he had his shares of critics who didn't believe in him. “Sa nine years na iyan, a lot of people doubted me. There were times when I doubted myself as well. When I won that award, it just meant the world to me,” he said.
Asked what roles he still wants to portray, Cuenca said: ”Para sa akin lahat ng roles na binibigay sa akin, dream role na iyon eh. Para sa akin, bring it on. Ready ako for any challenge. Anything that defies my personality, kapag payagan akong maging hindi ako, mas maganda.”
The actor said he really values every project that is given to him.
“For me, parang earlier in my career masaya na ako bigyan lang ako ng role eh. Lalo na noong nalaman ko na magbibida ako for the first time. Sobrang saya ko na,” he said.
Cuenca won for his performance in “In The Name of Love,” which also won acting awards for his co-stars Aga Muhlach and Angel Locsin.
