MANILA – Academy and Grammy-winning star Jennifer Hudson brought the house down with her powerful performance during the recently-held fundraiser for super typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) in New York.
Hudson sang her signature song from the movie "Dreamgirls" in front of a crowd at the Madison Square Garden on March 11.
Dubbed as “#PinoyRelief The Benefit Concert,” its website stated that the mission is to provide relief to victims of typhoon Yolanda.
Aside from Hudson, Filipino-American talents like American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez and multi-award winning songwriter Robert Lopez were also present during the fundraiser.
International singing sensation Charice and the Reo Brothers from typhoon-devastated Tacloban also performed during the event.
The typhoon hit the Philippines on November 8, 2013 killing more than 6,000 people. Over a thousand are still unaccounted for. Report from Don Tagala, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
