MANILA – Diego Loyzaga, the son of Cesar Montano with Teresa Loyzaga, does not regret taking a short break from showbiz even if some of his batchmates in the industry are now among the most popular teen stars of ABS-CBN.

Among his close friends in showbiz are Julia Montes, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo as they were all part of the youth-oriented program “Growing Up.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Loyzaga said he had to follow his parents’ advice to finish his studies first before going back to acting.

"I don’t regret anything. Everything happens for a reason naman po. I’m so happy for them. Lagi kong nakikita sa Twitter, sa TV sila Kathryn and Daniel. I’m so happy for you guys. Sana nakasabayan ko sila pero nauna sila so okay lang. We all have our own time naman to shine,” he said.

Now that he’s back, Loyzaga is hoping his supporters would again follow his projects starting with “Mira Bella” with Julia Barretto, Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion.

“I’m one of the mean boys. Kakaiba 'yung role ko doon. Hindi na ako boy next door, medyo bad guy ako doon,” he said of his role in the series, which will air next month.

“It’s a high school setting, bully siya," he said of his role and how he prepared for it. "Siyempre naranasan naman po natin lahat ang bully sa high school. Simple lang naman po, konting practice lang.”

Since he will be portraying the villain, Loyzaga is already preparing himself for the bashers.

“Gusto ko talaga mainis 'yung mga manonood sa akin. Inaantay ko nga ['yung mga bashers], inaabangan ko nga po 'yun,” he said.
