MANILA - Barely a year into their relationship, singer Yeng Constantino and fiancee Victor "Yan" Asuncion said they are certain they want to spend the rest of their life together.

Constantino and Asuncion, who became a couple on June 18 last year, were asked during their "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" guesting on Tuesday why they decided to get engaged after only eight months of being together.

The two announced their engagement on the concert variety program "ASAP" last Sunday with a song number, two days after Asuncion proposed to Constantino at the same place they had their first date in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

"Actually, parang ano na eh... Sobrang decided na ako na I want her to be my future wife so parang ayoko na patagalin," Asuncion said. "That was the feeling that I had when I proposed to her -- that I can't stand another day without telling her na that's my heart for her."

Asuncion, a worship director at a Victory Christian Fellowship church and a former band member, is Constantino's first boyfriend. The Kapamilya singer, who turned 25 last December, is also Asuncion's first official girlfriend.

Asked why she readily said yes to Asuncion's wedding proposal, Constantino explained how she has little apprehensions about her career possibly getting affected by her marriage, unlike some celebrities who opt to put off settling down.

"Honestly po, siguro noong mga three months ago... Kasi first month palang talaga, pinag-uusapan na namin -- we know the purpose of the relationship. Pero mga three months ago, nag-usap kami. Nakapa ko sa heart ko na may certain fears, like siyempre po sa career ko and at my age.

"'Diba po maraming celebrities ngayon, mas type nila talaga, mas gusto nilang maging successful with their careers, so may mga certain fears. Pero for the past two weeks, sinasalag ko 'yung heart ko. There's something in me na para kong na-feel, 'I'm not afraid anymore.' Pag tinitingnan ko siya, it feels like he is worth it," Constantino said.

The "Hawak Kamay" hitmaker added: "Kung feeling ng iba, marami akong mami-miss out, parang feeling ko, mas marami akong mami-miss out pag hindi ko siya makasama."

Asuncion and Constantino are planning to get married in early 2015.
