Dyesebel, in the original comics series by Mars Ravelo, is a mermaid born on land to human parents, her mother a former mermaid herself. As a child, Dyesebel is sent away to live at sea with other merfolk after being blamed by superstitious townspeople for a series of disasters.

Curtis is the second actress to play Dyesebel in a TV series, following Marian Rivera's portrayal in a GMA-7 soap in 2008.
Joining Curtis in the cast of "Dyesebel" are Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson as hear leading men, Dawn Zulueta, Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gabby Concepcion, Ai Ai delas Alas, and Eula Valdez, among others.
The series, which will debut on March 17 as part of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, is under the direction of Don Cuaresma and Francis Pasion.
