Vice Ganda, KC win big at Star Awards

MANILA - Kapamilya stars Vice Ganda and KC Concepcion bagged major awards at the 30th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies, Sunday night.

Vice Ganda won the Movie Actor of The Year for his hit 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival film entry "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" while Concepcion took home the Movie Best Actress of the Year for her performance in the film "Boy Golden: Shoot To Kill."

Star Cinema’s "On the Job" (OTJ) won the Movie of the Year award at the held at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City on Sunday night.

The action film's director, Erik Matti, was also honored as Director of the Year, while the film's cinematographer Ricardo Buhay III, and its editor, Jay Halili, were awarded Cinematographer and Editor of the Year respectively.

Matti and "OTJ" co-writer Michiko Yamamoto also won the Screenwriter of the Year award, while Joey Marquez, who played an National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent in the film, bagged the Movie Supporting Actor of the Year award.

Matti's action film, which tells the story of two inmates who are temporarily released from jail to become contract killers for corrupt politicians, bested five others nominees -- "10,000 Hours," "Four Sisters and a Wedding," "It Takes A Man and A Woman," "Shoot to Kill: Boy Golden" and "Dance of the Steel Bars."

The Movie Supporting Actress award was given to actress Angel Aquino for "Ang Huling Cha-Cha Ni Anita”

Meanwhile, the film "Badil" bagged the Indie Movie of the Year, Indie Movie Director and Indie Movie Editor of the Year awards.

Chito Rono's indie masterpiece prevailed over "Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita," "Ekstra," "Bamboo Flowers," "Kabisera" and "Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?"
