MANILA – Actor Richard Gomez revealed that the role of Dyesebel’s father in the upcoming Kapamilya fantasy series was originally offered to him.

However, he decided to turn it down.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of the 30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies held Sunday, Gomez explained why he declined to play the role even if it could have been his follow-up project with Dawn Zulueta following “Walang Hanggan.”

“Binibigay sa akin 'yung role sa ‘Dyesebel’ but I said no to it. Kasi kung kaming dalawa ni Dawn 'yung magkakasama, maganda 'yung talagang meron kaming [storya],” he said.

The role was eventually given to Albert Martinez.

Since he turned this project down, Gomez shared that he will first do a sitcom with actress Sharon Cuneta for the No. 3 network TV5.

But he assured his Kapamilya fans that his movie for Star Cinema with Gretchen Barretto and John Lloyd Cruz is still a go.

“Right now, meron akong sisimulan na sitcom sa TV5. Kaming dalawa ni Sharon, ‘Pirated Family.’ Yung movie namin ni Gretchen sa Star Cinema with John Lloyd on hold because of three things. Naaksidente si John Lloyd and then Gretchen is in London. Tapos nire-revise pa 'yung script,” he said.

The still-untitled movie is set to be directed by Chito Roño.
