MANILA - On afternoons, Andi Eigenmann is seen with a two-headed snake around her neck as the title character in "Galema." Soon, viewers can catch the actress in yet another adaptation of a classic comics tale, this time as "kontrabida" to the iconic mermaid "Dyesebel."

Eigenmann will be joining the cast of ABS-CBN's "Dyesebel," led by Anne Curtis in the title role, when the fantaserye premieres in March on primetime TV.

The major project will be in addition to the ongoing "Galema," which has been airing for four months now as part of the Kapamilya Gold block.

"I'm so excited to do 'Dyesebel' because it's a completely different thing from 'Galema' naman," Eigenmann told ABS-CBN News' Gretchen Fullido on Thursday. "You know, it's a completely different challenge for me. And you know me naman, 'di ba, basta kakaiba gagawin ko."

"I'm going to be the kontrabida this time!" she added.

In "Dyesebel," the 23-year-old actress will portray Betty, an antagonist to the mermaid-turned-human character portrayed by Curtis. She will reportedly figure in a love triangle with Dyesebel and either of the leading men portrayed by Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson.

This is the second time the two actresses will team up onscreen. In the 2012 romance-drama movie "A Secret Affair," Eigenmann played third party to the characters of Curtis and actor Derek Ramsay.

Her "Dyesebel" role also marks the third time Eigenmann will star in a series inspired by a "komiks" classic. This latest project is based on the character by comicbook novelist Mars Ravelo, while "Galema" and 2010's "Agua Bendita," both TV shows featuring Eigenmann in the title role, were originally comics created by Jim Fernandez and Rod Santiago, respectively.

"I don't know yet how I'm going to be juggling it, pero I'm sure naman the management supports me in those decisions," Eigenmann said, referring to her overlapping casting in "Galema" and "Dyesebel."

"And I'm happy also that they got me even if I'm still doing another show, so I know that they'll help me be able to balance both," she said.

Eigenmann added: "And as for me, I'm sure it won't be hard because I love Galema, I love the set, I love what I do, I love the role, and I know that it's going to be the same for Dyesebel. And if you love what you're doing, it's never going to be hard."

Joining Curtis and Eigenmann in the cast of "Dyesebel" are Dawn Zulueta, Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gabby Concepcion, and Ai Ai delas Alas, Eula Valdez, among others.

The series is under the direction of Don Cuaresma and Francis Pasion.

Most important role

Among the roles she is currently juggling, Eigenmann considers being mom to 2-year-old Adrianna Gabrielle, her daughter with former partner Albie Casino, as the most fulfilling.

"I love Ellie with all my heart and she's the cutest little thing," Eigenmann said. "I know that I get tired from work all the time and I'm busy, but whenever I see her, nawawala lahat 'yan, e. Kaya worth it naman. And everything that I do is for her, so that's no problem."

Eigenmann, who is rumored to be in a relationship with Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada's son Jake Ejercito, added that despite the demands of her job, she continues to hold her responsibilities as mother as a top priority.

"I always just make sure to balance my work and my time with her. Basta hindi ko masyado sinasagad 'yung sarili ko sa trabaho kasi now, my priorities siyempre, iba narin," she said.
