MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) - Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez of Chula Vista, California is now part of "American Idol" season 11's Top 13.
Sanchez made the cut after obtaining a high number of votes from the public. According to the show's host, Ryan Seacrest, 33 million votes were cast over two nights.
The 16-year-old contestant received a standing ovation from "American Idol" judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) after she performed her own rendition of Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do" from the movie "Dreamgirls."
The nine other finalists who received the highest number of votes include Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, Shannon Magrane, Skylar Laine, Elise Testone, Colton Dixon and Jermaine Jones.
Meanwhile, three finalists were chosen by the "American Idol" judges after the show's "wild card" round. They are Erika Van Pelt, Deandre Brackensick and Jeremy Rosado.
Sanchez is the fifth Filipino who made it as a finalist in "American Idol." Camille Velasco and Ramiele Malubay made it to the Top 9 on season 3 and 7, respectively.
Jasmine Trias landed on the Top 3 in season 3 while Thia Megia was part of the Top 11 in the show's previous season.
