MANILA, Philippines – He may have signed a contract with network TV5, but comedy King Dolphy Quizon said he will remain a Kapamilya.
Dolphy, who just arrived here after his brief vacation in the United States, reiterated that his contract with TV5 is non-exclusive.
He also disclosed that he even had dinner with ABS-CBN's top executives just to assure them that he would always be “there to help.”
"Sabi ko gusto ko lang talagang magtrabaho. Sinabi ko naman sa kanila, ‘Anytime you need me, I'm always there to help,’" Dolphy told ABS-CBN News.
Dolphy was also wary when asked to address several issues that cropped up following his decision to support presidential candidate Sen. Manny Villar.
He maintained that people should respect his choice.
"Huwag na 'yang pulitika. Dito lang naman ganyan ang feedback. Sa Amerika, malaya ang mga tao. Nire-respeto ko rin naman ang choice ng ibang tao. Dapat ganoon din sa akin," he said.
The comedian, for one, has been criticized for endorsing Villar instead of his long-time friend Joseph Estrada, who is also running for president.
He explained: "’Yong friendship naman namin ni Erap (Estrada) hindi mawawala 'yan. Mahal ko pa rin siya. Political exercise lang 'to."
