MANILA - The final episode of "On the Wings of Love" drew its biggest-ever viewership in its six-month run, making it the third most watched program last Friday, according to data from Kantar Media.
The romantic drama starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre registered a national television rating of 27.8 percent, based on a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the Philippine TV viewing population.
And while it ranked behind other ABS-CBN shows such as "Ang Probinsyano" and "Dolce Amore," the series more than doubled that of its rival program, GMA-7's "Because of You."
On Friday, a live viewing party was held at the Ynares Sports Stadium for the finale of "On the Wings of Love," which concluded with Clark (Reid) and Leah's (Lustre) wedding and a live duet between the two lead stars.
A production of Dreamscape, "On the Wings of Love," directed by Antoinette Jadaone and Jojo Saguin, marked the first time Reid and Lustre were paired in a long-running television series.
The two, who have already worked together in previous music videos and film projects, proved to be popular among viewers, making "On the Wings of Love" a consistent trending topic on Twitter.
The series also paved the way for Reid and Lustre to become a real-life couple. (RELATED STORY: Destined for each other: James, Nadine's road to love)
Meanwhile, "Pilipinas Got Talent" remained the most watched program over the weekend. "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and "Wansapanataym" also proved to be a hit, maintaining their lead over respective rivals (new and old).
