MANILA, Philippines – Popular men’s magazine FHM has released the new cover of its March issue with actress Bela Padilla.

In the new cover, Padilla, the niece of action star Robin Padilla, is photographed alone against a rock on a beach at night. She is also wearing a red bikini top with a matching micro-mini skirt.

The cover blurb was also changed from the original “Bela Padilla: Stepping out of the shadows” to “Bela Padilla: ‘I want to emerge with my own name.’”

FHM released the photo on its Facebook page on Thursday.

On Monday, FHM issued an apology after it received flak for posting a magazine cover which was branded by many as racist. The magazine also said it decided not to use the original cover photo as they "take the side of sensitivity."

In the original cover Padilla was wearing a bright red swimsuit surrounded by five dark-skinned models.

Reactions, however, were mixed on the new cover.

“Thanks! Much better,” wrote Megan Cannova on the magazine’s Facebook page.

“Yup she is pretty and yet sexy rin,” Vina Luchavez commented.

“She looks like Bea Alonzo. Will buy this asap,” raved Rhenz Abarro.

But others, like AJ Ganno and CJ Villafuerte, said they prefer the original cover.

“Mas maganda yung unang cover,” Ganno wrote.

The magazine’s fans also didn’t like the new cover blurb.

“Parang peyl (fail) yung caption. Mas angkop dito 'yung unang caption IMHO,” Mark Morfe commented.

“'I want to emerge with my own name'...One BIG FAIL! They should have retained the old one instead,” Morfe added.

“This is what you call the HARD FALL..... scrapping the perfect one is really not a good idea.. and rushing things is somewhat like trashing things,” commented Jeffrey San Juan.

But others said they’re just happy that the magazine had moved on from the controversy.

“Let’s get over the racial thingy and deal with Bela Padilla. Controversial or not, I will sure grab the March issue,” wrote Neil dela Cruz Darilag Jr.
