MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 1974 Amparo Muñoz passed away on Tuesday at her home in Malaga, Spain after being ill for a quite a long time, an online Spanish newspaper said.
Amparo, 56, was named Miss Spain in 1973.
The European country took pride when she was crowned Miss Universe in 1974 when the pageant was held in the Philippines.
She was the first Spaniard to win the top title in the prestigious beauty pageant.
After she won at a very young age of 19, everyone followed her career. From being a beauty queen, she entered show business in her home country from 1968 to 1985. –Report from Cheryl Lambatin, ABS-CBN News
