MANILA - Actress Sarah Lahbati and TV executive Annette Abrogar settled their controversial legal row after both parties arrived at an extra judicial settlement at the Philippine Mediation Center.
Abrogar, Lahbati and her lawyer Maggie Abraham announced the truce Friday at a restaurant in Quezon City, along with GMA-7 officials, media and the actress' family.
Lahbati and Abrogar traded court suits against each other, including libel and grave coercion, over Abrogar's alleged mismanagement of Lahbati's career; and Lahbati's negative comments about Abrogar on social media.
The actress apologized to Abrogar regarding her previous statements, which may have undermined her credibilty. In turn, Abrogar said she understood Lahbati and the pressures on her as a young star.
The developments in the case, which also highlighted Lahbati's relationship with actor Richard Gutierrez, was followed by showbiz and legal circles given the unprecedented court challenge of a contract star against her own TV network.
Abrogar is set to file her motion to dismiss libel case against Lahbati on March 13 at Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 59.
