MANILA - ABS-CBN's karaoke game show "The Singing Bee" debuted strongly in its new time slot, ranking among the 10 most watched programs in the country on Monday.

The sixth season of "The Singing Bee," which previously aired on Saturdays, premiered as a daily morning show at 11 a.m. on February 24, joining ABS-CBN's "Umaganda" block.

According to multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the show's first weekday episode scored a nationwide rating of 15.8%, while its competing program on GMA-7, "Tunay na Buhay," only garnered 5.7%.

The audience share of "The Singing Bee," as measured using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, ranked 8th overall as the most watched program in the Philippines for the day.

The list was still topped by ABS-CBN's primetime offerings -- "Honesto," "Got to Believe," "TV Patrol," "Annaliza," and "The Legal Wife," in that order.

Hosted by Amy Perez and Roderick Paulate, the ongoing season of "The Singing Bee" will feature more celebrity contestants for the remainder of its first week on "Umaganda," following the likes of Vice Ganda, Julia Barretto and Angelica Panganiban.

"Annaliza" stars Zanjoe Marudo, Denise Laurel, Kaye Abad and Patrick Garcia will compete in the show's February 27 episode, with the winner returning on February 28 to battle the previous days' victors.

Originally aired on United States television via NBC in 2007, "The Singing Bee" debuted in the Philippines the following year with actor Cesar Montano as host. The first five seasons ran until 2009, before going on hiatus and returning with new hosts last November 2013.
