Celebrity couple Yael Yuzon and Karylle
MANILA - Karylle on Wednesday defended her fiancee, Yael Yuzon, who drew criticisms for his alleged comment about her "love team" with "It's Showtime" co-host Vice Ganda.
Speaking with ABS-CBN News' Gretchen Fullido, the 32-year-old singer expressed relief to have finally reconciled with Vice Ganda after their "long tampuhan," but clarified that Yuzon never disapproved of her team-up with the comedian.
Vice Ganda has said his rift with Karylle, which started when she supposedly failed to attend his party celebrating the success of the film "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy," worsened when she supposedly avoided being paired with him on-screen due to Yuzon's disapproval.
"Gusto ko lang i-clear... Sabi ko nga sa mga friends ko, nakakatawa kasi si Yael never naman 'yan nagbawal sa akin. Ultimo Bench nga, wala siyang reklamo sa akin," Karylle said, referring to her ads for Bench where she appears wearing only her underwear.
"Ang pinagbawal niya lang sa akin ever is kumain ng extra rice. Understandable naman," she said.
"'Yun lang siguro 'yung gusto ko i-clear ngayon kasi siyempre siya naman ngayon 'yung kinukutya ng mga tao na, 'Bakit ganyan ka? Hindi pa nga kayo kasal, ang dami mo nang pinagbabawal.'"
Following Vice Ganda's admission of his now-resolved conflict with Karylle last week, fans of the two took to social media to criticize Yuzon for his supposed immature stance on the "love team," noting the comedian is openly gay and that team-ups are naturally a part of showbiz.
Karylle on Wednesday said Yael has since talked with Vice Ganda to clarify the matter, echoing the Sponge Cola vocalist's statement last Sunday on "Buzz ng Bayan."
"Nag-usap na sila. Hindi ko na tinanong. Sa kanila na 'yon. Basta na-clarify lang niya. 'Yun na iyon, the end na," she said.
Asked to set the record straight on Yuzon's alleged about Vice Ganda, Karylle said, "Ano lang, miscommunication. Kasi kami ni Yael, pag nag-uusap kami, minsan na-e-excite kami, nagsasabay kami. Kaya pala tayo nagugulo dahil masyado tayong madaldal, na-e-excite at mabilis magsalita. I think 'yun 'yung nangyari."
Vice Ganda earlier said he was offended and hurt when he learned from the show's director, Bobet Vidanes, that Yuzon was supposedly fuming over Karylle's interaction with him on "It's Showtime."
'Matagal kong hinintay'
On Tuesday, the co-hosts who are dubbed "ViceRylle" by their fans had a public reconciliation on the program when they went off-script in the "Sine Mo 'To" acting segment and exchanged hugs.
"Sobrang saya lang, siyempre. Matagal ko ding hinintay and happy na happy ako na dumating siya," Karylle said on Wednesday. "Sabi ko nga, bago niya ako niyakap, 'Aalis ka na bukas, 'di ba?'"
"Mahabahaba din kasi 'yung pag-alis niya so ayoko na mabigat 'yung dinaramdam ko. Siyempre, hinihintay ko, dinarasal ko palagi na maayos na maayos na maayos," she said.
Vice Ganda was absent from "It's Showtime" on Wednesday as he took oath at the Pasig City Prosecutor's Office in relation to the rape case filed against co-host Vhong Navarro.
The comedian is also set to leave for the United States for a concert.
Asked if she thinks her rift with Vice Ganda strengthened their friendship, Karylle said, "I think in any friendship naman, dadaan at dadaan ka sa ganito. 'Yung best friend ko, nagkatampuhan din kami recently at matagal ko rin siyang pinagdasal."
Karylle was also quick to answer when asked whether Vice Ganda is invited to her March wedding with Yuzon. The "Sisterakas" star earlier said he was unsure whether he is attending to wedding as he had yet to receive an invitation.
"Oo naman! I think nakabalik na sila by then pero hindi ko pa siya natatanong about that, kasi siyempre iba pa 'yung mga pinag-uusapan namin. Of course invited naman siya," she said.
With less than a month away before she gets married, Karylle said she is happy that she was able to fix things with Vice Ganda.
"I think naman in any wedding, we just have to focus on the love. Everything else will follow. I'm very blessed kasi napakaraming tao na nagdadasal para sa akin. Kung merong mga things na kailangang maayos, si God na bahala. Kita naman natin, 'diba, naging maganda naman ang kaayusan," Karylle said.
