MANILA, Philippines - "Prince of Comedy" Vic Sotto has expressed his delight over "Ultimate Multimedia Star" Toni Gonzaga's soaring career.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Sotto said he and the whole cast of noontime show, "Eat Bulaga" are proud of their former co-host's showbiz accomplishments.
"We'll always be proud of her. Sabi niyo nga, sa amin siya nagsimula. Basta kami, we'll always be happy for her. We always believe in her talent sa singing, hosting and comedy." he said.
Gonzaga started her first hosting career at Eat Bulaga on 2002 before transferring to the Kapamilya network in 2005.
Sotto also appreciated Gonzaga's move to wait for 6 years before finally hosting a noontime show, out of respect to her former colleagues.
"Mabuti naman. Kami din naman nire-respeto din namin ang lahat ng nakakasabay namin. I can’t even get used to the word kalaban or kasabay namin," he added.
Sotto, meanwhile, clarified that it was not his decision to replace Gonzaga in his first comedy movie under ABS-CBN's Star Cinema. Sotto is starring in a new movie opposite Bea Alonzo.
"I didn't have anything to do with that decision. Wala akong karapatan para gawin yun e," he said.
"So kung ano man ang final casting, that was Star Cinema's decision. And I’m very happy with their decision," he added.
Gonzaga earlier lashed out at rumors that she has ill feelings against Alonzo.
For Gonzaga, noontime show, "Happy Yipee Yehey" is one great blessing she received aside from other shows, "ASAP", "The Buzz" and "Pinoy Big Brother."
