MANILA, Philippines -- Singer Yeng Constantino believes she is now ready for a relationship and is excited to finally have a boyfriend.
"Ngayon bilang ako ay bumubukadkad na parang bulaklak, sa tingin ko this year, sa palagay ko po handa na po akong magbukas ng sarili ko siguro sa relationship sa love life. So nae-excite po ako," says Constantino, 24, in an interview during the launching of her newest album "Metamorphosis."
"This year po I'm looking forward sa isang magandang yugto at bagong kabanata ng aking buhay. Gusto ko na po talaga. Ako po kung tatanungin niyo kung gusto ko na po talaga magka-boyfriend? Ay oo, pero hintay lang kasi mahirap naman kung ako ang manligaw," she added.
The singer said she never had a boyfriend but already experienced how to fall in love.
"Nagmahal na ako ngunit hindi yata karapat-dapat ang pagmamahal ko sa kanila dahil hindi sila naghintay. Siguro mayroon ding lalaki na para sa akin," she said.
Asked of the qualities of her Mr. Right, Constantino said: "Sa akin kung mas mahal niya si God, okay sa akin. Naniniwala ako na kung may lalaking mahal si God alam niya kung paano ako mahalin at irespeto."
Constantino joined showbiz when she was only 18 when she won the reality talent search "Pinoy Dream Academy" in 2006. Her first hit, "Hawak Kamay," was composed during her stint on the show.
Brand new Yeng
At the press conference for the new album, she said "Metamorphosis" does not only present her new songs, such as her lead single, "B.A.BA.Y." but also her new red hair, which she said is also a statement.
"The red hair is not just part of the album. It's a part of who I am now in this season of my life. I can say that my hair color represents my passion for music now--flaming hot," she said. "And if there's anything that I want to say to my supporters through my new look, it's that I want them to be brave to experiment to unleash their real personalities."
According to the singer, "B.A.BA.Y" introduces her brand new image. "The song showcases almost everything that's new about me now--new sound, new songwriting, and a new chapter in my life. For sure, the listeners and those who'll watch the music video will enjoy ‘B.A.BA.Y’ because it will make them dance with its upbeat sound."
Produced by Sandwich frotnman Raimund Marasigan, "Metamorphosis" is a 10-track all-original album that features nine of Constantino's compositions. "Releasing this all-original album brings so much joy in my heart. I felt like I have a new contribution to Philippine music in this generation," she said, adding that she hopes to inspire other singers to do more original music. "I believe that this will have a domino effect. Hopefully, a lot of artists will be encouraged to write and release their original songs."
Aside from "B.A.B.A.Y," "Metamorphosis” also features her songs “Hahanapin Kita,” “Josephine,” “Messiah,” “Pasensya Na,” “Sana ‘Di Pa Huli,” "Teleserye,” "Pag-ibig,” and “Sandata.” The song “Chinito,” meanwhile, was written by Jed Dumawal.
