MANILA, Philippines -- Fans and celebrity supporters of Sarah Geronimo have taken to Twitter to rally behind the actress-singer leading up to the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (KCA), where she is nominated.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, the hashtag #VoteSarah is the Philippines' top trending topic on the popular micro-blogging site.
In the "tweets" using the hashtag, supporters of the Kapamilya star, including "ASAP" mainstays Princess Velasco and Angeline Quinto, are enlisting support in voting for Geronimo as the "Favorite Asian Act" in the 2013 KCA.
The "A Very Special Love" actress is up against Chinese singer-actor Han Geng, South Korean rapper Psy, and Malaysian singer Shila Amzah in the category.
In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN News, Geronimo said the nod serves as an inspiration. "'Yung pagiging nominated lang, enough na 'yun sa akin. Thankful ako to all the kids na kino-consider ako na maging part nung Kids' Choice Awards. Thank you sa inspiration," she said.
At last year's KCA, Kapamilya singer Charice Pempengco won the Favorite Asian Act award.
Other notable nominees in the 2013 KCA include Selena Gomez (Favorite TV Actress), Johnny Depp (Favorite Movie Actor), Jennifer Lawrence (Favorite Movie Actress), Taylor Swift (Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie), Chris Hemsworth (Favorite Male Buttkicker), Anne Hathaway (Favorite Female Buttkicker), Julia Roberts (Favorite Villain), Justin Bieber (Favorite Male Singer), and Katy Perry (Favorite Female Singer).
Now on its 26th year, the Nickelodeon KCA is popular for bringing together big-name celebrities in the United States for a fun-filled show that honors the biggest acts and programs of the year. The results are voted by viewers of Nickelodeon.
This year, the KCA will be held on March 23 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. It will be hosted by Hollywood actor Josh Duhamel.
In the Philippines, the awards show will be televised via the Nickelodeon cable channel on April 6.
