MANILA -- Kim Chiu admitted that she was saddened when she found out that she will not be paired with "love team" partner Xian Lim for her new TV project, following the box-office success of their movie "Bride for Rent."
"It's a management decision," Chiu said, referring to her being paired with Coco Martin in the upcoming period drama "Ikaw Lamang," in a report on ABS-CBN entertainment news site Push.
"Nalungkot din naman kami in a way pero siyempre ito 'yung binigay sa amin and hindi naman kami makakapili kung ano talaga. And masaya kami na 'yung ibang 'KimXi' masaya sila, parang natanggap na din nila," Chiu said.
Lim and Chiu's love team took off in 2011 via the hit series "My Binondo Girl," which was followed by another TV team-up in 2012 with "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."
"Bride for Rent" marked their second movie together after the blockbuster hit "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?" in 2013.
The 23-year-old actress noted that while she and Lim will not be seen together on TV for some time -- the heartthrob actor was recently paired with Bangs Garcia in a "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode -- their fans can still look forward to future projects featuring the love team.
"Hindi naman siya bubuwagin kasi may movie kami ng third quarter ni Xian so sana suportahan ulit siya ng mga tao... Then after ['Ikaw Lamang'] we're going to have a teleserye together," she said.
Chiu also attested to Lim's talent when asked to react to comments that she is the more popular star in their love team. She noted that the 24-year-old actor has a massive following of his own, apart from supporters of the "KimXi" tandem.
"Kaya naman ni Xian 'yun. Siyempre iba rin 'yung talent na nabibigay ni Xian, iba 'yung humor niya and napakagaling niyang artista," she said. "Napakadami naming supporters na nagsasabi na hindi nila kami pabababyaan, nandiyan lang sila kahit magkaiba y'ung project namin and masaya kami na naririnig namin 'yun," Chiu said.
Meanwhile, Chiu admitted she is nervous about working with her co-stars in "Ikaw Lamang," which boasts of screen veterans and award-winning actors.
Aside from lead stars Martin, Jake Cuenca and Julia Montes, Chiu will be joined in the series by Cherie Gil, Ronaldo Valdez, Cherie Pie Picache, Angel Aquino, John Estrada, Tirso Cruz III and Meryll Soriano.
"Siyempre sa lahat ng project dun ka kakabahan, siyempre siguro mayabang na mayabang ka na kung okay lang sa 'yo. Siyempre kakabahan ka rin kasi ito bagong team-up and lahat ng artista dito may award. Buti na lang nakasungkit ako ng isa kung hindi left out ako, wala akong award," she said, laughing.
Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment Television, "Ikaw Lamang" will join ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida line-up in March.
