MANILA – The first big screen team-up of Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga continues to dominate the local box office as it earned another P50 million on Sunday.
According to Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager Mico Del Rosario, “Starting Over Again” has already breached the P200-million mark on its fifth day since it was released in theaters on February 12.
The film, which is Star Cinema’s Valentine offering, is still showing in over 270 theaters in the Philippines and in select theaters in the United States.
Gonzaga and Pascual, who are both in the United States for the film’s premiere in Fox Theater, earlier conveyed their gratitude to moviegoers who braved the long lines to see “Starting Over Again.”
"Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. This movie was worth 13 years of waiting. God's perfect time is always the best. Thank you everyone for being brave enough to appreciate what our film has to offer. You made our first movie ni Piolo my most unforgettable film ever," said Gonzaga.
Pascual, for his part, said he is humbled by the continuous and overwhelming support from the fans.
"Thank you very much for believing and extending your support to Star Cinema and everyone who's part of this project. We're all humbled by your love. And as we celebrate Valentine's, may we continue to spread love and harbor good feelings towards everyone," Pascual said in a statement released online.
Written by Carmi Raymundo, "Starting Over Again" tells the story of college professor Marco (Pascual), whose girlfriend, Ginny (Gonzaga), left him without saying goodbye or giving an explanation.
Four years after the breakup, the two cross paths again at a time when Marco is already happy with a new partner, Patty (Iza Calzado).
Forced to work with Marco, who has also successfully pursued his passion to become a chef, Ginny starts to regret leaving him and tries to win him back.
The release of "Starting Over Again" is part of the continuing 20th anniversary celebration of ABS-CBN film outfit Star Cinema.
