Patrick: Jennylyn and I haven't settled our differences
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Patrick Garcia admitted that he and former girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado have not yet settled their differences.
In a live interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Garcia said he does not regularly see his son with Mercado because he and the actress are not on speaking terms.
Refusing to detail the “very complicated reason” behind it, Garcia is hoping that everything between them will be ironed out soon.
“Hopeful [ako], yeah. Ayaw ko namang mag-away eh. I would love to be with my son and I want him to grow up knowing me. I want to be there every step of the way,” he said.
The actor, however, chose not to answer the question whether his conflict with Mercado is due to his alleged failure in giving financial support for their son.
In a past interview, Garcia explained why he was not able to give financial support for their son for two months.
"I've always explained to Jen naman. Kasi few months ago work was scarce, wala masyado, so 'yung suporta ko kay Jazz naho-hold back pero I explained to Jen na pagdating ng soap na ito I will always give to Jazz," he had said.
"Pero feeling niya siguro I was really holding back because hindi ako nakapagbigay ng two months. Pero noong third month nakapagbigay ako, pero nangyari na lahat. So sana if she was just patient and if she just believed me na what I was saying was true sana hindi kami nag-away-away," he had said.
Mercado, for her part, denied reports that she is prohibiting Garcia to see and visit their child.
“Hindi… Walang ganoon, not true. Hindi totoo. Walang katotohanan ‘yun. Anytime, basta gusto nila. Basta gusto lang nila,” she said.
