MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Psy, the South Korean performer behind the worldwide hit "Gangnam Style," is now in the Philippines for his first concert here.
The pop star-rapper arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 a little before noon on Saturday via Korean Air flight 621, hours before the "Psy: Live in Manila" concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
"It has been postponed so many times, so I'm really excited and I really waited a long time for this," he told ABS-CBN News, referring to the concert originally set in December 2012.
Psy will be joined in the concert by Kapamilya actress-comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, as well as comedy duo Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo.
First uploaded in July on YouTube, the music video for "Gangnam Style" now has the most number of views on the video-sharing site. As of writing, it now has 1,322,460,191 views.
Owing to its music video's viral spread online, "Gangnam Style" has become a cultural phenomenon of sorts, spawning countless parodies from different parts of the world.
It also paved the way for the international popularity of Psy, who has since performed alongside other international celebrities, including Madonna.
