MANILA – Tony winner Lea Salonga is set to join the pop classical group Il Divo on a world tour as the quartet promotes its album in Korea, Japan and North America.
This was announced in the official website of the all-male group, composed of Sébastien Izambard, Carlos Marin, David Miller and Urs Bühler.
Il Divo’s latest album titled “A Musical Affair” features songs from various Broadway musicals like "South Pacific," "West Side Story," "Cats" and "The Lion King."
“I am thrilled to be joining Il Divo as they continue their Musical Affair Tour worldwide. Having such a passion for musical theater since an early age myself, I cannot imagine a more talented group to join forces with to share these timeless songs with audiences of all ages," Salonga said.
"And it doesn’t hurt that they are so handsome to look at too,” she added.
Speaking in behalf of the group, Izambard said it is an honor to share the same stage with a renowned Broadway star.
“We’ve been following Lea’s extraordinary career for years and are huge fans. It’s an honor that we can finally share a stage and our love of music together for these legs of the tour. We’re looking forward to these enchanting performances,” he said.
According to the Associated Press, Salonga will be performing "Some Enchanted Evening," ''Tonight," ''Memory" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" during the tour.
