MANILA, Philippines - Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez is flattered to be the idol of many young aspiring singers, she said Friday with husband Ogie Alcasid at her side.

“Hindi ako nai-insecure,” Regine said in an interview with dzMM’s Karen Davila and Vic Lima. “I feel flattered, I feel honored na ako na ina-idolize, kasi dati ako lang ‘yung naga-idolize. Ngayong ako na ‘yun. Nakakatuwa.

“Siguro kasi how I started also, sa contest din ako nanggaling,” Regine added. "Siguro they can relate."

Young pop singers like Sarah Geronimo and Angeline Quinto, who both got their big break after winning in singing contests, have both been vocal about their adulation for Regine.

Ogie, who is proud of his wife and her achievements as a singer, said, “Ang-daming magagaling na singer dito sa Pilipinas, pero itong asawa ko ang pinakamagaling.”
