MANILA - Singer-actress Aiza Seguerra and girlfriend of one year, Liza Diño, are now engaged.
A friend of the couple, Toni Co, shared videos and photos of Seguerra's proposal in a series of posts on Instagram and Twitter. The proposal took place Friday at the Teatro Hermogenes Ylagan at University of the Philippines-Diliman.
A short clip taken by Co shows Seguerra down on one knee on stage, holding an engagement ring. A tearful Diño is seen saying "yes" in front of a cheering crowd.
Seguerra, according to an Inquirer report, had set up the whole scenario. Diño was made to believe they were acting for a fund-raising performance of a play titled "Kung Paano Maghiwalay," which was attended by the couple's parents.
On Twitter, Diño expressed her "overwhelming happiness" in a series of posts. She also thanked fans who congratulated her and Seguerra on the engagement.
Seguerra and Diño first went public with their relationship during the singer's concert with Charice Pempengco last September 28.
A former beauty queen, Diño won the best actress in the New Wave section of 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival for her performance in "In Nomine Matris."
