MANILA - The camp of Vhong Navarro will seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in identifying the source of a photo that allegedly shows the "abused" genitals of the actor.

Navarro's lawyer, Atty. Alma Mallonga, on Wednesday said she has yet to confirm the authenticity of the photo, "but definitely it's something that siguro kailangan ipakita natin sa NBI."

"Ire-refer natin for appropriate action because I have no capabilities of finding out how it was uploaded, who's sharing it, for what purpose, so hindi natin alam kung anong kahalagahan niyan. But we will just refer it for appropriate action," she said.

While emphasizing doubt on the photo's authenticity, Mallonga lamented it as a "continuing humiliation na gustong gawin kay Vhong."

"Whether or not it is true, people look at it and they think it's true," she said.

"I cannot confirm one way or another. Ang aking request nalang siguro sa ating mga kaibigan, huwag na nating patulan at huwag niyo nang i-share siguro dahil wala siyang katuturan," she said.

In his first interview detailing a January 22 mauling incident, an emotional Navarro told "Buzz ng Bayan" host Boy Abunda that his penis was abused, aside from him being blindfolded, tied up, and mauled at least six men inside a condominium unit in Taguig.

Referring to the supposed content of a video allegedly recorded by his attackers, Navarro said, "[Makikita dito na] binaboy ako from sa ari ko, sa private part ko."

"Pinakita nila na medyo baboy na. At the same time 'yung video ko na sinasabi na, 'Ako si Vhong Navarro at ni-rape ko ang kaibigan ko,' pang-blackmail nila sa akin. Wala akong video na nakikipagtalik dahil hindi nangyari na nakipagtalik ako," Navarro said at the time.

The "It's Showtime" co-host was referring to model Deniece Cornejo, whom he accused of conspiring with businessman Cedric Lee and several others in setting him up for an extortion attempt.

Lee, in an interview on DZMM on January 28, denied Navarro's allegations, including the actor's claim that he took a video of his private parts. "Walang gumagalaw sa kanya. Lalaki po kami. Bakit namin gagalawin organ niya? 'Yun ang gusto niyang palabasin."

The businessman backed Cornejo's statement accusing Navarro of raping her.

In her complaint-affidavit filed last January 29, Cornejo claimed that the actor forced her to perform oral sex on him and tried to insert his penis in her vagina, but was "rescued" by Lee and his group.

The actor, on the other hand, charged Lee and Cornejo's group with serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail, and serious illegal detention -- a non-bailable offense.

Two weeks since the attack, Mallonga said Navarro has almost fully recovered and is preparing to face the preliminary investigation on the incident. - With a report from Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN News
