MANILA – Comedienne Ai Ai Delas Alas, for the first time, talked about her divorce from businessman Jed Salang, saying she was the one who requested it.
"Mas mabilis naman talaga ang divorce kesa sa annulment. Kaya 'yun ang hiniling ko sa kanila," she said in an interview with entertainment site Pep.ph,
"Si Jed naman ang Amerikano, eh. Siya 'yung magdi-divorce sa akin. Ang bagal pa nga noon, kasi nag-Christmas," she added.
Asked what the divorce means to her, Delas Alas simply said: "Tapos na... closure."
The Kapamilya actress, however, has yet to receive a copy of the decision. "Wala pa 'yung hard copy. Pero sa computer, nakasaad na doon," she said.
Despite this, Delas Alas said she is not ready to patch things up with her ex-husband.
"Ayaw ko siyang maging friend. Ayaw kong makipag-friend sa kanya. Nightmare,” she said.
Meanwhile, the comedienne said she is still optimistic about finding love.
"Sino ba ang taong ayaw ma-in love? Pero siguro sa proper person at sa proper time," she said. “[Pero] hindi na puwede [ang kasal]. Ayaw ko na muna. Ayaw ko munang pakasal."
Last January, Delas Alas announced her divorced from Salang via the Image-sharing site Instagram.
The two got married in Las Vegas on April 3, 2013, but after less than a month, the actress decided to call it quits.
In an emotional interview on "The Buzz" that aired last May, Delas Alas broke down as she recalled being physically abused by Salang after a disagreement.
She filed a case against Salang for violating Republic Act 9262 or the act defining violence against women and children. She also sought a protection order against her ex.
