The MNL48 aspirants who got the most votes from fans this past week got the opportunity to perform on "It's Showtime" on Saturday.
The top 10 girls danced to "Kapag Tumibok ang Puso."
Val, a 16-year-old from Cavite, led the list, ahead of twin sisters Shaina and Shaira, who endeared herself to the studio audience by professing her love for potatoes at every opportunity she gets.
"Go patatas!" she shouted after being asked about her thoughts on ranking this high among the girls.
Every week, a top 10, based on votes from the official MNL48 app, will be announced. They will then perform for the "madlang people," bolstering their chances to retain their place.
After 13 weeks, the first-generation members of MNL48 will be determined.
The MNL48 concept is based on the mega-popular Japanese idol group, AKB48. It is officially recognized as an international sister group, alongside existing ones in Thailand and Indonesia.
