MANILA -- Vice Ganda apologized to "Annaliza" star Denise Laurel after the actress trended on microblogging site Twitter last Saturday because of the comedian's joke on "It's Showtime."

Last Saturday, Vice Ganda made an apparent jab at model Deniece Cornejo, whose group is tagged in the mauling of his co-host on the program, actor Vhong Navarro.

Interviewing a "That's My Tomboy" contestant during the segment's question-and-answer portion, the comedian asked grand finalist Phao Faraon, who went on to finish runner-up, a question he categorized as "current events."

"Sa palagay mo, kung iimbitahan ka, pupunta ka ba sa condo ni Denise?" Vice Ganda quipped, triggering laughs from the audience.

"Laurel! Laurel!" he quickly added, referring to the "Annaliza" star.

The joke wasn't lost on anyone, however, as his co-hosts and judges kept on laughing.

"Hindi niyo kasi pinatapos, madlang people," said co-host Billy Crawford.

Vice Ganda then proceeded to "complete" the question to Faraon: "Kung iimbitahan ka, pupunta ka ba sa condo ni Denise Laurel para manood ng 'Annaliza' at ano ang dadalhin mong foods?"

Still laughing, Faraon answered, "Finger foods."

On Monday, Vice Ganda greeted Laurel on the noontime show.

"Pati si Denise Laurel ay nag-trending dahil nabanggit ko sa Q&A. Nag-tweet siya, na-surprise daw siya bakit siya nag-trending. Wala siyang kaalam-alam. Tapos nag-tweet back ako 'ooooops! Hi Denise! Love u!' Hi Denise Laurel. Papadalhan ka namin ng foods. Ano ba unit mo diyan?," the comedian said.

Navarro, who is still recovering from the attack last January 22, claimed in an interview on "Buzz ng Bayan" that he visited Cornejo in her condominium unit in Taguig upon her invitation.

He detailed the events leading up to the mauling incident, including a text message from Cornejo asking him to buy her some food before coming over.

Cornejo has since accused Navarro of rape, formalizing the complaint last Wednesday. In her affidavit, the 22-year-old claimed that the actor forced her to perform oral sex on him and tried to insert his penis in her vagina, but was "rescued" by businessman Cedric Lee and his group.

Navarro has denied attempting to rape Cornejo and claimed that he was a victim of extortion. He said he was blindfolded and tied up before being attacked by at least six men including Lee.

The actor has since charged Lee and Cornejo's group with serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail, and serious illegal detention.
