MANILA – After being estranged for months, singer Charice happily shared that she finally got the chance to talk to her grandmother.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Gretchen Fullido, Charice said their meeting was unexpected because it happened after one of her mall shows in Laguna recently.

“I finally spoke with my lola. Actually I didn’t know. Nag-show po ako sa Pavilion Mall sa Binan and she was there, nanood siya. We talked,” she said.

It would be recalled that Charice’s grandmother was among those who were saddened and hurt when the singer decided to change her style and image after she announced on TV that she is a lesbian.

It was also Charice’s grandmother who alleged that the singer recently attempted to kill herself over supposed financial problems.

Meanwhile, Charice also shared that her grandmother finally met her girlfriend, Alyssa Quijano.

“It was a very touching moment kasi she talked to her and she said, ‘Alagaan mo ang apo ko.’ I never thought na mangyayari 'yun ng ganun kaaga,” she said.

Following this, Charice is hoping she could also mend ties with her mother.

“Siyempre kung nangyari ['yung pag-uusap namin ni lola] that time, siyempre malaki 'yung hope ko na very soon my mom will come around and everything will be okay. Family iyan,” she said.

Last month, Charice’s mother spoke on “Buzz ng Bayan” to explain why she strongly disapproves of her daughter’s relationship with Quijano.

Despite this, Charice’s mom said their house will always be open for the singer.

“Masaya siya. Naka-move on na kami ng kapatid niya. Siguro dadating din ang panahon na kung hindi ko man matanggap si Alyssa, tanggapin na lang niya na mahal namin siya,” Mrs. Pempengco said.
