MANILA - Football player Phil Younghusband took to Twitter on Tuesday night to deny rumors that his breakup with actress Angel Locsin caused by him getting another woman pregnant.

"Dear everyone, to put an end to the doubts & rumors, I’m not the father of the baby of Denisse nor was it the reason Angel & I broke up. Angel & I ended on good terms. Lets respect all parties and let everyone be happy & concentrate on their lives with their families & careers," the Azkals striker said.

Younghusband was referring to Denisse Oca, a daughter of screen veteran Melissa Mendez who was romantically linked to him in 2011.

Oca, based on her Instagram posts, is already six months into her pregnancy.

In several of her posts on the image-sharing service, Oca has had to address the same rumor repeatedly, saying there is no truth to it and that she is clueless as to how it started.

"I'll tell people who the father is when I'm ready," she said in a comment on a photo showing her baby bump last week. "Right now I just want to keep it private, hope you can respect that. One thing I can say for sure is that it is definitely not Phil, the rumors are not true."

Younghusband added in his statement: "At the end of the day, we all have to ask ourselves the question, are we making peoples lives worse? Or are we making peoples lives better? And If we are not making peoples lives better, we are wasting our time. I hope you can all understand. Thanks!"

Oca went on to thank Younghusband for clarifying the stituation.

Locsin, meanwhile, has yet to go on record addressing the rumor.

The TV star was in a one-year relationship with Younghusband, until she confirmed their separation in October 2013.

She has since expressed hopes of reconciling with former boyfriend, TV host Luis Manzano, who has likewise shared his intentions of getting back together with Locsin.
