MANILA - Backed by a mix of hilarious and awe-inspiring auditions, the latest season of "Pilipinas Got Talent" got off to a fast start -- at least in terms of national television ratings.
According to data from Kantar Media, the first two episodes of the hit talent search more than doubled that of its rival programs, "Celebrity Bluff" and "Wanted President."
The January 23 episode got a 25.5 percent share of the national television viewing audience, while the January 24 telecast garnered more than 24 percent.
The debut episode of "Pilipinas Got Talent" saw three hopefuls receive all four nods from the judges -- dance group Histacity, male singing duo The Poor Voice, and magician Geffrey Delos Reyes.
The following episode saw judge Robin Padilla use his "golden buzzer," sending dancers Anjanette and Gervin into the semi-finals of the competition following a moving performance set to "On the Wings of Love."
On the online front, the auditions for the first two episodes has managed to garner more than five million views combined on YouTube. The most viewed is the audition tape of Delos Reyes where he amazed the judges with a slew of magic tricks.
