MANILA – Veteran singer Regine Velasquez doesn't feel offended that numerous gay comedians impersonate her in the various comedy bars around the country.

Speaking to celebrity doctor Vicki Belo for the program “Belo 101” of the ABS-CBN News Channel, Velasquez said she actually considers the impersonations flattering.

“[Icon ka na] when people start to imitate you, kapag ginaya ka na ng mga bading. Type na type nila ako,” the singer said with a hearty laugh.

As the list of her impersonators continues to grow, Velasquez wished these singer-comedians success.

“I’m also very supportive of them so kapag may mga concerts, ako 'yung kukunin. Ang daming [gumagaya na bading]. Ako naman, I’m flattered. Natatawa talaga ako kapag ginagaya ako,” she said.

Among Velasquez’s impersonators is comedian Anton Diva, who has become close to the singer through the years.

Anton Diva was even called up by Velasquez onstage when she lost her voice in the middle of her anniversary concert last November.
