MANILA -- Daniel Padilla credits Kathryn Bernardo for the popularity of their "love team," which has enjoyed consecutive successes on TV and film since being launched in 2011.
The 18-year-old actor, who has the distinction of headlining a concert at the Araneta Coliseum and producing two platinum-selling albums, said he feels indebted to Bernardo for his success.
Speaking with reporters shortly after a press conference held Thursday for "Sa Ngalan ng Ina, Ama, at mga Kapatid," which hits theaters on January 29, Padilla was asked how he feels about his ongoing series with Bernardo.
"Got to Believe," which airs on primetime, recently started its second season on a high note, as scenes involving the lead characters made it to the worldwide trending topics on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Since it debuted on primetime in August 2013, "Got to Believe" has consistently topped nationwide ratings in its timeslot, often ranking second overall as the most watched program in the country on weeknights.
"Siguro 'yun nalang 'yung balik nila sa amin," Padilla said, when asked to react to the success of the series. "Grabe ang paghihirap namin sa 'Got to Believe.' Ang hirap dahil kaming walang... Lagi kami for airing, ganyan, kasi minsan walang oras, ang daming schedule."
"Pero talagang kahit every scene, kahit napakaliit lang ng eksena, talagang ginagawa namin nang maayos. Hindi lang putsu-putso na acting. Talagang inaayos namin," he said.
Asked why he feels his tandem with Bernardo clicks with their audience -- they have so far top-billed two films, "Must Be Love" and "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay," and two series, including "Princess and I" -- Padilla was quick to credit the talent of his partner.
"Magaling din kasi si Kathryn, eh. Malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa kanya. Ang galing kasi ni Kathryn," he said.
Now busy promoting "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak," and with the filming of "Got to Believe," Padilla said he hardly has time for himself, but added he has no problem with this.
"Wala na akong gano'n (personal time), eh. Okay lang. Basta ako, mahal ko 'yung ginagawa ko. At marami namang at mas magiging marami pa 'yung oras ko para sa sarili ko. Ngayon, sa kanila (fans) na muna," he said.
