MANILA, Philippines -- Daniel Matsunaga credits Kris Aquino for the latest strides he's made in his career.

The 24-year-old model, whose frequent appearance in local ad campaigns since 2009 paved the way for his showbiz career, considers Aquino as a blessing coming off his recent successes.

"Kris gave me a huge opportunity, she's really mabait, she's really nice to me, and I really appreciate it. God really uses people... especially in my life here right now, that's why I'm really thankful," Matsunaga told reporters at the sidelines of a press conference held Wednesday night for his latest endorsement.

Matsunaga recently appeared in the blockbuster comedy film "Sisterakas" starring Aquino, Vice Ganda and Ai Ai delas Alas. An entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival, "Sisterakas" went on to become the highest grossing local film of all time.

The Brazilian-Japanese model also co-hosted Aquino's morning talk show "Kris TV" for a brief period.

"I really appreciate everything she has done for me and my careeer and everything that's happening right now, to my life," Matsunaga said.

"I'm really thankful for her for [coming] into my life, [for being] part of my life. Thank you, Kris. You're sobrang mabait, and you're such an example for so many," he said.

When asked on reports romantically linking him to Aquino, Matsunaga said rumors only circulated because they appeared in "Sisterakas" together. "That did not come from me," he said.

Matsunaga's last relationship was with actress Heart Evangelista. The two broke up in April last year. The former Kapamilya teen star is now in a relationship with Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero.

For his part, however, Matsunaga said he prefers to wait for the right person, at the right time. "For me, in God's time there will always be a perfect girl that will come into my life, and I'm waiting for that time," he said.
