MANILA -- The first trailer for "Dementia," the suspense-horror film starring screen veteran Nora Aunor and showbiz newcomer Jasmine Curtis-Smith, has been released.
Directed by Perci Intalan, "Dementia" centers on Mara (Aunor), a woman suffering from dementia, and her niece, Rachel (Curtis-Smith), as they stay in an ancestral home in the province.
Rachel hopes to trigger Mara's memories by bringing her back to the place where she grew up. The situation makes a turn for the worse, however, when Mara instead dredges up nightmares from her past.
In the preview released early this week, Rachel is seen recording a video of Mara solving a jigsaw puzzle. The old lady makes her way out of the house, seemingly as she notices a presence, with a confused Rachel trailing quietly.
The scene ends when what appears to be a drop of blood lands on Rachel's shoulder, getting a terrified reaction from Mara. At one point, a ghoulish figure is seen behind Rachel.
Produced by The IdeaFirst Company and Octobertrain Films, "Dementia" is said to be Aunor's first horror film in decades. It is also the second film starring the veteran actress slated for release in 2014, following the earlier announced "Padre de Familia" co-starring Coco Martin.
No release date has been announced for "Dementia," which will reportedly continue shooting in March.
