MANILA -- Actress-host Mariel Rodriguez does not consider herself a step-mother to the children of husband Robin Padilla from a previous relationship.
"They have their mother. I'm just here and there lang," Rodriguez explained in an interview with Karen Davila on ANC's "Headstart" on Thursday.
Padilla has four children with ex-wife Liezl Sicangco.
Rodriguez also said she is not yet ready to have kids of her own. "I don't want to get pregnant, not yet," she said. "I'm not ready, physically, mentally, everything."
"So many people are pressuring me (to get pregnant)," she admitted, saying she is scared of the pain of childbirth. "Hindi ko kaya, mamatay ako. Aso nga wala ako," she added.
But Rodriguez expressed content with married life, stressing that it was her dream to be a housewife.
"Right now, I'm just really happy with what's going, I'm not really asking for more. I now have a non-artificial life," she said.
Asked if she fears that Padilla, a known playboy in his younger days, might break her heart, Rodriguez replied: "It's still there. Kahit sino naman, fear is always there. You just have to try to have a happy home, happy marriage."
"I guess the fear will always there but he does not give me any reason to doubt that. I think Robin has changed in that aspect. I think he's at the time of his life ...that he just wants to settle down already and stick to one -- I hope."
In the interview, Rodriguez also hinted that she might return to her former network, ABS-CBN.
"That's also being discussed," said Rodriguez, who used to co-host "Pinoy Big Brother" with Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales.
Currently, Rodriguez is busy promoting the movie "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at mga Anak" with Robin Padilla and Daniel Padilla. The film, which was co-produced by ABS-CBN's Star CInema, will hit theaters on January 29.
