MANILA -- "Got to Believe," the hit primetime series starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, debuted its second season Wednesday, jumping to two years after the lead characters' much talked-about breakup.
In the January 22 episode of the ABS-CBN soap, Chichay (Bernardo) is seen arriving in Singapore where she landed a 3-day job as an artist.
Shortly after meeting her employer at Haji Lane, said to be the city's "art street," Chichay catches a glimpse of Joaquin (Padilla) walking past.
Two years have passed since the former couple broke up -- a decision made by Chichay after Joaquin suffered from a seizure, hoping he would leave her and finally seek treatment for his worsening condition overseas.
Before the jump in timeline, Joaquin appeared to die in a hospital bed, with doctors attempting to revive him.
In a recently released trailer for the series' "new chapter," Joaquin, who appears to have recovered from his condition, is seen crossing paths with Chichay several times, but does not seem to recognize her.
Chichay, at one point, appears excited to see Joaquin, only to be left speechless when he walks past her and approaches a girl (Liza Soberano), whom he hugs and gives flowers to.
A preview of the January 23 episode also shows Joaquin, who appears to be a stranger to Chichay, addressing his former girlfriend formally only by her surname.
