Singer April Boy Regino

MANILA – Singer April Boy Regino, who scored with hits like “’Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin” and “Ye Ye Vonnel," is retiring from show business despite recovering from various health problems.

In an interview on "Rated K" on Sunday, Regino admitted to host Korina Sanchez that he lost the will to live after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

But Regino eventually got better and was even cured of prostate cancer. However, he was later diagnosed with another health condition that almost debilitated him.

Last August, the singer was hospitalized again but was released after 55% of his body recovered from the ailment. His doctor then advised him to retire from performing in order to fully rest his body.

The singer said he will definitely miss performing before his fans. However, he must prioritize his health.

Lalo na po kapag nagkakagulo sila kapag nilabas ko na ‘yung sombrero,” he said, referring to his trademark cap.

Regino added that his interview with “Rated K” will be his last as he already wants to rest.
