Tina Paner: I am also a victim in scam
MANILA, Philippines – Former singer and actress Tina Paner finally broke her silence on accusations that she sold fake plane tickets to her fellow Filipinos in Barcelona, Spain last year.
In an exclusive interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday, Paner explained that she herself was a victim of the scam.
“Yung nangyaring scam na 'yan, that was last year, July. May nilabas na offer or promo for Barcelona-Manila and Manila-Barcelona sa murang halaga. Mga 685 to 700 euros. So ako bilang agent, may ipapabenta sa 'yo na ticket [ang travel agency], so every benta mo may commission ka. Siyempre marami kaming ahente na nag-grab ng opportunity na makapagbenta,” she said.
Paner said she was also caught off guard when she learned that the tickets the travel agency asked them to sell were fake.
Out of fear, Paner said she bought another set of expensive tickets just so her clients would be able to fly home to the Philippines.
“If the price they got is 685 to 700 euros, I bought another ticket worth 1,200, 1,600, 1,800 euros para lahat ng mga clients, hindi nila alam makakalipad sila. Ang nakalipad halos nasa 100 until December. So lahat ng savings ko naubos. But 'yung 100 na passengers, lahat 'yun nakalipad,” she shared.

Asked why there are still Filipinos coming out complaining of the fake tickets, Paner said: “May passengers pa kasi na leaving for January until March.
Saying there are only around 20 passengers left, Paner stressed that she never really intended to run from her clients.
“Hindi ako nagtatago. Naging tahimik ako because nakaka-receive ako ng death threats.
Saying she understands if her clients are mad at her, Paner assured them that she will give their money back.
