MANILA - (UPDATED) For many Filipino faithful, the meeting of Pope Francis with thousands of youth on Sunday, which concluded with a moving performance of "Tell The World of His Love," is a familiar scene.

In 1995, the same tune about discipleship, written and composed by Trina Belamide, concluded the mass presided by Pope Saint John Paul II at the Rizal Park in Manila.

At the time a ubiquitous song amid the week-long festivities of the World Youth Day, "Tell The World of His Love" became a memorable tune for many Filipinos.

Held at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, Pope Francis' encounter with the youth -- one of many stops during his five-day pastoral visit here -- also ended with the inspirational tune.

As in a decade earlier, a huge crowd joined in singing "Tell The World of His Love," this time led by 13-year-old Darren Espanto, runner-up of ABS-CBN's "The Voice Kids."

Later on Sunday, millions who gathered at Rizal Park in Manila for Pope Francis' concluding mass also sang the tune in unison, together with a 1,000-member choir and a 200-member orchestra.
