MANILA - Actress Jodi Sta. Maria has finally reacted to rumors claiming that she is pregnant.
"Ay hindi. Confused lang 'yung tao sa nangyayari sa buhay ng character ko sa soap... Naa-associate nila sa real life," said Sta. Maria, who is playing the popular character Maya in the hit daytime soap "Be Careful With My Heart."
In the series, Maya, wife of Richard "Sir Chief" Lim played by Richard Yap, is already pregnant.
Sta. Maria's boyfriend, actor-politician Jolo Revilla, earlier denied that the actress is pregnant.
"This is my first and final statement regarding Jodi's pregnancy issue. She is not pregnant and we are not yet married," Revilla said in a statement on his Twitter account.
"What we have right now is something special and we want to keep it private because I love her so much. Kung sakaling totuo man yan, kayo po unang unang makakaalam. God bless," he added.
Before Revilla's statement, Yap also clarified rumors that his leading lady is infanticipating.
"They associated it with her real life kasi noong nagka-dengue siya ay pinalabas din siya sa show," Yap said. "So they might be thinking that we are doing the same thing now, but sorry to say hindi pa."
In October last year, Sta. Maria was hospitalized due to dengue. The show's writers included her illness in the story to explain her absence from the show.
