No gimmick, actress says
MANILA -- Former couple Luis Manzano and Angel Locsin met Wednesday after she made headlines with a candid confession that she is still in with love the TV host, more than four years after they broke up.
The 28-year-old actress said Manzano visited her in her dressing room inside the ABS-CBN compound, shortly after the press conference for her upcoming drama series "The Legal Wife," where she made the controversial statement.
"Hindi niya alam kung ano 'yung lumabas. Nagulat siya. Kanina po, dumalaw siya after no'n, sa dressing room habang naghihintay," Locsin told DZMM's Ahwel Paz and Jobert Sucaldito on the radio program "Mismo" on Wednesday night.
"Medyo feeling! Feeling-feeling siya!" Locsin said, laughing, referring to Manzano's reaction. I miss you,' walang gano'n eh.
Speaking with ABS-CBNnews.com and other members of the press earlier on Wednesday, Locsin admitted she still has feelings for Manzano, even as she tried to avoid him for two years. The actress said she is also hoping to rekindle her relationship with Manzano, "pero depende 'yan sa amin kung magiging okay kami together."
Locsin, in her DZMM interview, clarified that she and Manzano are still trying to fix their differences. She said that while she hopes for a reconciliation, being a couple again is not necessarily in the near future.
"Inaayos parin naman namin," Locsin said. But right now, okay kami."
Manzano sang a similar tune in a separate interview with ABS-CBN News, saying, "We're slowly talking again, so sana pupunta doon sa patching things up, and maybe rekindling."
The actress also noted that her situation, of still being in love with a former partner, is not a unique case. She surmised her confession only generated buzz because the persons involved are celebrities.
Huwag na ho tayo manloko," she said. "'Diba, napagdaanan ho natin 'to. Mahirap ho talaga 'yung mga ganitong sitwasyon, and siguro napag-uusapan lang kasi artista kami."
Locsin recently separated from her boyfriend of over a year, football player Phil Younghusband.
She confirmed the breakup in late October, the same month Manzano confirmed his split from actress Jennylyn, his girlfriend of two years.
Coincidentally, Locsin and Manzano confirmed their breakup in October of 2009, four months after their actual separation.
Addressing speculations about her most recent breakup, Locsin emphasized that Manzano had nothing to do with her decision to end her relationship with Younghusband.
No publicity stunt
Explaining she is aware of the reactions to her statement on Wednesday, Locsin stressed that it is not a promotional stunt for "The Legal Wife," which is nearing its primetime debut.
She said was also surprised with her burst of emotion during the press conference, adding she had never planned on coming out with her feelings for Manzano at the event.
Siguro ayoko lang po magpaka-ipokrita," she said.
Locsin, whose career spans 10 years with a number of acting awards to her name, added she felt she owed the truth to her supporters.
