Gerald: I want to court Maja if given a chance
| Actor Gerald Anderson breaks silence about his real feelings for actress Maja Salvador.
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Gerald Anderson finally broke his silence about his true feeling for actress Maja Salvador, days after photos of him and Salvador vacationing in Albay made their rounds in the Internet.
In an exclusive interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Anderson reiterated that his photos with Salvador in Misibis Bay making the rounds online are real.
However, he stressed that he was vacationing in Albay with his family and friends, while Salvador was attending a bridal shower of her cousin at the posh Misibis Bay.
“[I took it] upon myself [that I also want to spend time with my family in Misibis]. Hindi ko naman ii-invite 'yung sarili ko sa bridal shower. Parang okay let’s do this, iplano natin ito, let’s have fun, enjoy and vacation,” he said.
Saying they were never really close before, Anderson admitted that it was only in Albay that he saw Salvador “on a different level.”
“During sa mga activities namin, parang nakita ko sa kanya na wow, parang masaya siyang kasama, very charming, mabait. Nag-e-enjoy akong kasama siya. So when we came back, being single -- matagal na rin po akong single and siya rin single siya at that time -- parang anong masama kung yayain ko siyang lumabas? Anong masama kung puwede kami magkaroon ng pagkakataon na makilala namin ang isa’t isa?” he told "The Buzz" host Boy Abunda.
However, the 23-year-old actor said it is unfortunate that things already got blown out of proportion even before he has done anything.
“Inunahan ng maraming tao na mayroon na agad naninira, accusations. Parang it got blown out of proportion agad. Hindi pa nga kami nagde-date. Hindi pa kami lumalabas na kami lang dalawa,” he said.
Despite this, Anderson expressed that he would still like to know Salvador better.
“Yeah I would love to [court her] kung bibigyan niya ako ng chance. I’d love to get to know her better, para mas makilala namin ang isa’t isa,” he said.
Kim and Maja’s friendship
Last Tuesday, actress Kim Chiu got emotional when she addressed reports about Salvador and her former boyfriend.
Saying the turn of events caught her by surprise, Chiu said “nasayang 'yung friendship namin ni [Maja].”
Anderson said he totally understands Chiu's reaction.
“Friendship is everything. Napakaimportante niyan. 'Yun nga, alam ko na sensitive ang sitwasyon na ito pero I believe na magiging maayos din ito, magiging maayos siya depende sa maturity ng bawat isa na kasama sa sitwasyon,” he said.
Asked if he is aware that Salvador asked permission from Chiu if she could date him, the actor said: “Hindi ko po mako-confirm. But kung ginawa niya iyon, that’s out of respect. That’s the most important thing.”
On Chiu’s remark saying she warned Salvador about Anderson, the actor said: “Lahat naman tayo may opinyon eh. It’s alright, karapatan natin iyan kung anong gusto nating sabihin sa mga tao. Pero hindi naman po ako nagpa-interview ngayon para i-explain ang pagkatao ko sa inyo. I know who I am. Every day of my life, I try to be the best person I can. It’s her opinion and wala po tayong magagawa diyan.”
Message to Kim, Maja
Meanwhile, the actor offered a few words for both Salvador and Chiu.
According to Anderson, he and Chiu had proper closure when they broke up three years ago and he is really happy for what she has achieved since then.
“Almost three years na po kaming hiwalay ni Kim. Since the three years na iyon, I’ve never been happier para sa kanya sa lahat ng blessings, success and happiness na mayroon siya ngayon. At the end of the day, alam ko ganoon din siya,” he said.
As for Salvador, Anderson said: “Mas malakas sa akin 'yun eh. Siguro po sa pamilya niya, sa pamilya ko, I’m sorry na dahil lang may nagustuhan akong isang babae, everything is being blown out of proportion at marami nang nadadamay.”
“Ang mensahe ko lang, just stay strong. Lilipas din ito. Magiging mas mabuti tayong tao after this,” he added.
