MANILA, Philippines – Aside from spending time together during their dates and out-of-town trips, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero revealed that passion for cooking is also another thing which he and girlfriend Heart Evangelista share in common.

Actress Heart Evangelista with her boyfriend, Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero

In an interview with The Philippine Star columnist Wilson Lee Flores, Escudero admitted he is glad that Evangelista loves to cook as much as he does.

“I love to cook mostly Filipino foods like tinola, adobo, sinigang and also paella. I thank chef Reggie Aspiras for teaching me,” he said. “Heart can cook. She cooks pasta well.”

Asked what is his favorite dish cooked by Evangelista, Escudero said: “My favorite is her steak. I also know how to cook steak — it’s basically only using pepper and salt, then don’t mess it up and make sure you turn it over only once,” he added.

While they have been together for eight months now, Escudero maintained that they do not plan to cook up a wedding soon. “It will just come,” he said.

On importance of marriage

And since the divorce bill is among the hot topics these days, does he favor this measure?

“Pinapainit lang nila ang Simbahang Katoliko. I’m against divorce. I’m for making the annulment of marriage in our society more affordable and accessible to ordinary citizens, with the help of PAO, the Department of Health for certification by psychologists, etc., but I’m not for divorce,” he said.

Escudero’s announced the annulment of his marriage to his former wife Christine Flores last July.

Despite this, Escudero said he is not averse to the possibility of remarrying.

“I’m not averse to it. Hindi naman ako jaded,” he said.
