MANILA, Philippines - Fil-Am international singing sensation AJ Rafael, who's now in Manila for a series of shows, hopes to work with international singer Charice.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Rafael said he already talked to Charice, whom he describes as a very talented young woman and who really likes his music too.
"I'd been talking to Charice online. I'm a fan of her music, and she's a fan of my music. She's very talented. I haven't formally ask her but I really just want to jam with her," Rafael said.
"I would love to invite her honestly to work with me. She's in a label and stuff and it's hard to work with a really big artist but maybe as a friend. Now that I know she's here I will ask her," he added.
On Tuesday, Charice arrived in Manila from United States to celebrate the 40th birthday of her mother, Raquel Pempengco.
Like Charice and Arnel Pineda, Rafael also found fame via YouTube, which he believes has become an online audition stage for many young talents.
"Of course my space in YouTube is probably the best thing that happened in my life, to my career. YouTube is definitely the online stage for young talented kids. Even this tour, the Internet proves that we are worldwide. With 83 million hits that's crazy. Two years ago I was in Australia and I had sold out to 1,000 people show, that when I knew it was real," he said.
To date, Rafael has a strong online following, with approximately 80 million hits on YouTube. Rafael will be starting his Southeast Asia tour on January 18 dubbed as "Red Roses" with a concert at the Music Museum.
