Maxene Magalona couldn't help but break down in tears as she incorporated her father into her wedding vows, saying that she wished that Francis M had had a chance to meet her husband, musician Rob Mananquil.
Her voice cracking, Maxene, who walked down the aisle to her dad's music, said: "If he were here today, I just know how much he would love you."
"The way you're deeply passionate about your music was how he was with his; the way you love your dog Chewy was the way he loved his chihuahua; the way you love and take care of me was the way he loved and took care of my mom and our family.
"And as I stand before you in this special day, in front of family and friends, I can say without a doubt that I know that papa is happy for you and me. I can feel it in my heart and soul that he loves you for the way that you love me."
It was back in 2009 when Francis M, the greatest Filipino rapper of all time, died after a battle with leukemia. Then, Maxene and Mananquil were not yet a couple.
The two became sweethearts in 2015.
Mananquil, in his own vows, told Maxene about "the amount of joy [she] has sparked into [his] life" before expressing his gratitude towards her and God.
Their vows were caught on video by Metro Manila Film Festival spokesperson Noel Ferrer.
The first part of Maxene's vows touched on how she was an "aimless" and "broken" person before she met Mananquil.
"Noong nakilala kita hindi mo lang pinatibok ang puso ko, pinatibok mo rin ang akin puslo. You gave my life meaning. When I met you, everything just started making sense."
"You saw a glimmer in hope in me when majority, including myself, had already given up," she added.
Their ceremony was held at the luxurious Shangri-La Boracay Resort and Spa.
