MANILA -- Angel Locsin, the original star of the "Moonstone" trilogy on Kapamilya primetime, shared the screen with the series' new leads, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, for four months.
The ongoing third installment, "La Luna Sangre," is seen as a casting coup with the wildly popular "love team" being joined by Locsin and Richard Gutierrez, themselves a hit onscreen pair in the early 2000s.
Now, Locsin has exited the show after her mysterious character, Jacintha, vanished magically in "La Luna Sangre's" January 10 episode.
Speaking with reporters Wednesday on the sidelines of the taping of "Pilipinas Got Talent," ABS-CBN's weekend talent search where she sits as judge, Locsin was asked to share her impressions of Padilla and Bernardo after having worked with them for four months.
Despite apparent fan wars online -- supposed fans of "KathNiel" complain Locsin's return to the series are upstaging the young stars, with the latter's supporters fiercely defending their idol -- Locsin seems fond of the two.
She praised Padilla's humility and depth, and commended Bernardo for her determination to improve her craft and live up to expectations.
